Mechanical Maintenance Skills for Electrical Craftworkers

FETAC Certificate in Maintenance Skills Technology
Classified as: Level 6 Major Award

Introduction
This FETAC certification process has been designed to allow craft workers gain formal recognition for up-skilling.
Brief outline on how to achieve this Major Award
Participants must complete 7 FETAC Modules. Upon successful completion of each module participants will be awarded with a FETAC Minor award certificate. FETAC minor awards are transferable and recognised by most higher education training bodies.
The Modules
For the purpose of achieving a Certificate in Maintenance Skills Technology (Major Award), FETAC have divided the appropriate modules (Minor Award) into Mandatory and Elective. Mandatory modules are those which must be completed by every participant while elective modules are those which a participant has chosen to complete.
Mandatory Modules
In order to achieve a full Certificate in Maintenance Skills Technology (Level 6 Major Award) participants must successfully complete 3 FETAC level 6 modules (Minor Awards) or equivalent.
The Mandatory Modules assigned to this Certificate (Major award):
Module 1; Electrical Systems for Mechanical Craft workers (level 6 Minor Award) or Mechanical Maintenance Skills for Electrical Craft workers, (level 6 Minor Award).
Module 2; Programmable Logical Controllers, (level 6 Minor Award).
Module 3; Communications (level 5 Minor Award).
Module 4; Safety and Health (level 5 Minor Award).
Two level 5 modules are equivalent to one level 6 module and therefore participant must complete module 3 and 4 to fulfil the requirement of being successful in 3 level 6 mandatory modules.

Elective Modules
In order to achieve a full certificate in Maintenance Skills Technology (Level 6 Major Award) Participants are required to be successful in 4 level 6 or equivalent elective modules from the following list:
Level 6 Modules

Refrigeration principles and systems (level 6 Minor Award)
Plant Facilities (HEVAC) Maintenance (level 6 Minor Award)
Preventative Maintenance (level 6 Minor Award)
Problem Solving (level 6 Minor Award)
Analogue Electronics (level 6 Minor Award)
Industrial Pneumatics Systems (level 6 Minor Award)
Industrial Hydraulic Systems (level 6 Minor Award)
Total Productive Maintenance (level 6 Minor Award)
Training and Coaching Skills (level 6 Minor Award)
Level 5 Modules (2 level 5 Minor Awards are equivalent to 1 level 6 Minor Award)
Process Measurement and control (level 5 Minor Award)
Team working (level 5 Minor Award)
Level 4 Modules (2 level 4 Minor Awards are equivalent to 1 level 5 Minor Award)
Computer Applications (Level 4 Minor Award)
Information Technology Skills (Level 4 Minor Award)
Data Entry (Level 4 Minor Award)
Individuals will choose to participate on elective modules which are relevant to the industry sector they are currently employed in
